I am a Norwegian painter working with abstract interpretations of nature, inspired by close observation of details often overlooked.
My work begins with photography taken during walks in the Norwegian landscape throughout the seasons. By zooming in on fragments -shadows, drops of water, the lines of a leaf and intricate organic structures, I find a moment of flow when the neverending turning of time makes a pause. After going through the process of abstraction I seek to find the same moment of wonder when looking at the finished painting.
ANNO is a series of twelve interconnected paintings, each corresponding to a month of the year.
Each painting can stand alone, but together they form a continuous visual landscape for the viewer to move through. The series will evolve as paintings are being sold and will be replaced by new paintings.
The series has been presented in three exhibitions;
